The inaugural meeting of the new RNLI fundraising branch for Wicklow Lifeboat Station took place in June 2004. The meeting was chaired by the national organiser of the RNLI, Mary Newman, assisted by Dermot Desmond , area representive. New structures within the RNLI has seen the demise of the ladies guild , which has been in existence since 1968, with the formation of a fundraising branch open to men and women. A supporter's group was also formed on the night. It is open to people who do not want to be part of a committee but are willing to support the RNLI when needed. Anyone wishing to become a member of the group may do so by sending their application to the chairperson or any member of the branch.
