RNLB SHERINGHAM SHANTYMEN ( D-671 )
The new ILB-1 inshore lifeboat arrived at Wicklow RNLI Station in late February 2007 , after crew familiarisation training the lifeboat went on station replacing the D Class lifeboat RNLB INBHEAR DEAS. The new lifeboat can reach speeds of up to 25 knots , giving a faster response time to incidents , better night capacity and naviation. The lifeboat also has a faster restart that reduces the vulnerbility of the crews and boat following capsize.
The provision of RNLB SHERINGHAM SHANTYMEN was made possible through the generous donation of the Sheringham Shantymen a group of Norfolk folk musicans , the lifeboat is named after the group.
